Decaf Coffee
Decaf coffee, short for decaffeinated coffee, is just like regular coffee, except nearly all of the caffeine has been removed from the coffee bean. Our coffee beans are decaffeinated in one of two ways: Swiss Water method or Methylene Chloride (MC) method. Java Bean Plus offers multiple varieties of decaf coffee beans, both roasted and unroasted, using the finest coffee beans available from around the world.
Decaf coffee is short for decaffeinated coffee. Decaf coffee comes from bulk coffee beans that have had approximately 97% of their caffeine removed. There are several ways to remove the caffeine from wholesale coffee beans. The most common methods use water, organic solvents, or carbon dioxide.
In one method, unroasted coffee beans are washed in water or a solvent until nearly all of the caffeine has been extracted. After the caffeine has been extracted, the solvent is removed from the coffee beans. The coffee beans are now considered to be decaf coffee beans. The amount of caffeine will vary between different coffee beans. A cup of decaf coffee contains anywhere from 0-7 mg of caffeine, and a cup of regular coffee contains between 70-140 mg of caffeine.
Bulk decaf coffee beans are always decaffeinated before roasting. After the caffeine is removed from the coffee beans, the next step is roasting the decaf coffee beans.
