    Roasted Perfectly

    Kenya Fancy Mark Coffee Beans roasted rich and smooth. I purchased a little roaster for home and was worried they wouldn't turn out right, hoping I wouldn't burn them. I don't know if it was sheer luck or just really good beans, but it was the best cup of coffee ever.

    I used a FreshRoast SR540 air roaster to roast the beans to a medium dark. The coffee was smooth with and nutty with hints of molasses. It was very good.

    There was a lot of chafe, enough to overload the air handler on the roaster.

    I roasted just into the 2nd crack and
    let it set up for 2 days. The results were a semi sweet, smoky, chocolatey spicey cup. Will be buying more when I run out.

    The fairly expensive Kenyan coffee I bought had some cracked beans and signs of mixture of quite different beans by size and color. The coffee was somewhat unexciting but I only roasted yesterday and flavors change for several days. The Columbia Supremo, also a little expensive for being on sale, was more pleasing and uniform . Sweetness and buttery taste. I may try a couple of more of their varieties. I have purchased from Sweet Maria’s for years.
